District Announcements
Happy 125th Anniversary OUHSD!!
October 3rd marks the 125th anniversary of OUHSD!  On October 3, 1892, thirteen districts decided that a Union High School District should be formed.  The Boards from all of the district’s petitioned the County Superintendent to hold an election.  Oroville Elemnetary and Thermalito are the only school districts still in existence.  Some of the districts were Olive, Cottonwood, Oregon City, Masilla Valley and Wyandotte.

The Boards also voted on the contract for the Oroville High Principal.  The nine month contract was for $18.

Letter from the Superintendent

October, 2017

We have a lot of great things going on in the Oroville Union High School District!  We have extended the LPHS library hours until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and the OHS library hours until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The first quarter of the school year ends on October 13th.  I encourage students to use the weekly consultation periods on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to improve their grades.  There is also after school tutoring at both Las Plumas High School and Oroville High School.

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) results were released on September 27, 2017.  OUHSD showed positive growth in English-Language Arts and math.  You can review results for all California schools online at http://caaspp.cde.ca.gov/.

Now is a great time for high school students to begin thinking about life after high school.  OUHSD will have over 40 colleges at the 3rd Annual College Fair on October 4, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the east gym at Las Plumas High School.  Counselors at all schools are able to assist families with applying to colleges, applying for scholarships and completing financial aid applications.

As we work together to make the high schools in the Oroville Union High School District great places for kids to learn, please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone at (530) 538-2300, extension 1107, or by email at cwillenb@ouhsd.org if you have questions, concerns and/or comments that I can assist you with.

Respectfully,

Dr. Corey Willenberg
Superintendent
